In March 1988, this letter was sent to Governor Booth Gardner requesting information on Bigfoot. The response from the State Department of Wildlife noted that “the Sasquatch has never been documented and is therefore not classified as wildlife in the State of Washington. Since it has not been proven to exist, the Department of Wildlife does not manage or have any real involvement with the creature.”
In early 1988, a Washington State University anthropology professor announced a plan to prove the existence of Sasquatch by hunting and killing one using an infrared-equipped ultralight helicopter.
